In the “WTF is the world coming to?” category, we now have the news that Anoop Desai and Megan Joy may be dating.

It’s only obvious where those two met. You would have to be stupid not to know that! But for those who might be, Anoop and Megan met while on American Idol. You know, the show they were on for months together!

But that’s not all. Speaking of stupid couples, Vote For The Worst is reporting that Kellie Pickler and Kid Rock may be dating too, although neither Pickler nor Kid Rock have confirmed. These two humdingers met on a USO tour and have been chummy ever since. I personally like Pickler, and I think that her stupid “act” is just that, an act, since she is educated. But her with Kid Rock? That’s a double WTF, if you ask me.

What this tells me is: A. The world may be going to hell in a hand basket; B. Two heads may be better than one, except in the case of the latter couple; and C. Both couples will have some singing ability.

Anoop’s coupling with Megan is a bit strange, considering Megan has a load of tattoos and Anoop is about as straight-laced as they come.

Pickler’s supposed romance with Kid Rock is also bizarre, because she is a country bumpkin and Kid Rock enjoys bumping with Pamela Anderson.

But hey, what do I know? Perhaps these “power couples” will figure it all out and live happily ever after. But I doubt it.

Kellie Pickler was back in the American Idol limelight last night, in the place where it all started for the small-town girl from Ablemarle, N.C. just a few years ago.

She was the darling of American Idol 5, a season where characters were more prevalent than actual singers in the competition. Actually, I kind of miss those days. We need more Sanjayas and Kellie Picklers (and Jon Peter Lewis) for that matter.

Anyway, she was on Idol 8 last night, singing “Best Days Of Your Life.” I didn’t really get the outfit, but the singing was good, and she’s definitely found her niche in the country music world.

Her buddy Taylor Swift wrote the song, but this performance is all Pickler, who never has met a stage she didn’t like. Her personality is still as bubbly as the day she started. And hopefully it stays that way.

BTW…when I get a chance I’ll put up that great tune from Frankie Avalon, who surprised Simon on his birthday with “Venus.” Truly a memorable night, and one reserved for such a class act in Scott MacIntyre. In all of my months covering Idol, I have never heard anyone say one bad thing about Scott, and that, my friends, is a true measure of someone’s character. He’ll be missed.

Chikezie is wrapping up his not-so-commercially-successful Idol Holiday Tour in Waukegan, Ill. But the real news coming from the Idol 7 Top 10-er is that he may be finally putting out an album! That leaves about one-third of the Top 10, including Carly, Brooke, Jason and Ramiele as those who still haven’e put out an album. He told the audience a deal was in the works with Universal Records, but we heard that all before with Sundance Head in season 6 and nothing came to fruition there. So it’s all wait-and-see with Chikezie, but it would be nice if another Idol from season 7 got a record deal. - Tommy2.net

As all of you already know, Kellie Pickler is not home for Christmas this year. So where is she exactly? Well, instead of being in some snowy city like New York for the holidays, Pickler and a college buddy decided it would be more festive, relaxing (and warm) to be in the Bahamas. First off, I had no idea Pickler went to college…LOL Second, she is single so…how does that saying go? “If you’re ever in the Bahamas…” Well, anyway Pickler’s in the Bahamas. Carly Smithson started her blog by saying she’s in Charleston, S.C. with her in-laws for the holidays, but then she dropped a bomb (a name bomb) by announcing she’s writing a song or two with a certain someone from Idol 5. Gee, wonder who that could be? Does the name rhyme with Autry? LOL Anyway, Smithson should have an album coming out in 2009 and there will no doubt be more to come from the Irish rocker. - Carly Smithson MySpace
