American Idols Live! Hits The Boardwalk - Atlantic City NJ

American Idols Live! visited the Boardwalk of Atlantic City this weekend, and from the sounds of it the crowd wasn’t as crazy as other audiences.

Nonetheless, the Idols put their all into the show, especially Adam Lambert, who sang five songs and busted out “Starlight.”

Blake Lewis was in the audience as well, giving the Idols some encouragement. I mean, it wasn’t the crowd’s fault; apparently security told the crowd to sit down at some point during the show.

Also, Boardwalk Hall is usually reserved for acts like the old Miss America Pageant and other old-ass acts. WTF were the Idols doing there?

Shouldn’t they have been playing somewhere larger? Some questions should probably be asked and will be asked after that show. Dear God, what were the producers thinking sending the Idols there?

Anyway, the tour rolls on and I’m cure it will be better at the next stop.

Get tour tickets while they last below.

Oakland Next Stop on American Idols Live! Tour

oak-1.jpg

The Bay Area was the next stop on the American Idols Live! tour this past weekend, with Oakland being the first stop of two.

Oakland is of course the home to MC Hammer and to Keyshia Cole, so the town knows how to get down.

And Danny Gokey certainly can get down himself, as he shows in the Michael Jackson cover of “PYT (Pretty Young Thing)”

I think this is Danny’s best song on the tour and he should try to put a version of this on his album, even though there have been reports he’s doing a country album.

Danny Gokey - “PYT (Pretty Young Thing)”

Other than Gokey’s solid performance, there were scattered reports of anti-gay protesters bum-rushing the show outside. But it turned out that there were only 3 to 5 people protesting.

New Kris Allen Song! - American Idols Live! Tour 08 In Sacramento - Video

kris-sac.jpgadam-sac.jpgsac-1.jpgThe American Idols Live! Tour has some interesting news of late. Things are kinda dead in Idol land at the moment (for once!) and my apologies for not getting anything up yesterday.

My son is in the hospital with jaundice and has been under bilirubin lights for over a week.

The only real Idols making news at the moment are the Top 10 on tour.

Kris Allen has had his “No Boundaries” song bounced from his set list for the tour for the foreseeable future and it has been replaced by The Killers’ “All These Things That I’ve Done.”

The song change surprised me, but the song itself is a good one for Kris, and since he’s so versatile the change should actually help him rather than hurt him.

I know some peeps will be bummed by the change, but I really do think it’s for the best.

Kris Allen - “All These Things That I’ve Done”

Also, we have some photos from the Sacramento show above, so enjoy.

American Idols Live! Tour ‘09 at Tacoma Dome - Videos

The American Idols Live! Tour 09′ continued rolling along last night, with a performance at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Wash. Watch some videos from the concert below.

Kris Allen - “Hey Jude”

The Allen video is quite shaky, but we appreciate the video nonetheless and it beats having to pay $200 for a ticket, doesn’t it?

And then the pyrotechnics went off like crazy for Adam Lambert, who came out dressed to kill like usual amid a sea of flashing lights.

Adam Lambert - “Whole Lotta Love”

And Scott MacIntyre may be destined for singing theme songs for sitcoms, but he’ll have a great time doing it, as evidenced from his performance of “10,000 Miles”

Scott MacIntyre - “10,000 Miles”

Well, that’s it from Tacoma. Much more if you go to eum442’s YouTube channel. Many thanks to eum442 for the video!

American Idol 8 Superstars Rehearse For Upcoming Tour

The Idols got together this past week for a rehearsal and it was the first time that the public has been allowed to hear them before they embark on their Idols Live! tour in early July.

I’ve gotta say…I’m impressed with their harmonies! This is some of the best stuff we’ve had the pleasure of hearing from any of the Idols tour groups, now or ever. “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey is a phenomenal song and the Idols handled it with aplomb.

Season 8 was definitely special and ground breaking and I think at a time where so much change happened in this country in such a short period of time, it was nice to have this diversion.

Couple that with the sudden news of Michael Jackson’s passing, most of which the American public is still coming to grips with, and season 9 will have to be extra special to top this group.

So get out and see these season 8 performers, because they can bring the noise!

Danny Gokey, Michael Sarver Controversy For “Godly” Remark - Finale Rehearsal - American Idol 8

This video of the Idol 8 finale rehearsal starring footage Michael Sarver shot for his MySpace page is making all kinds of news today, causing people to claim that a comment made in the video above is homophobic.

I don’t think that’s the way they meant it to come out, but that’s life, I guess. Are they anti-gay? What do you think?

Otherwise, the video is hilarious and shows just how close this cast is. There are some funny moments with Matt Giraud and Allison Iraheta. It’s too bad we didn’t see these sides of their personalities during the show.

Michael Sarver Eliminated - Top 10 Results - Motown Week - American Idol 8

The roughneck from Texas was sent home this evening, even though the judges discussed up until the last minute if they were gonna save him. Finally, that jerk Simon–who is probably saving the judges’ save for Scott MacIntyre–decided for the group and Sarver was sent packing, even after he delivered one of the best under-pressure performances I’ve ever heard.

The other interesting tidbit to tonight’s show: no women in the bottom three, despite Megan Joy’s subpar performance last night. You could have thrown Lil Rounds in there, too, based on her song choice.

But the shocker of the night was that Matt Giraud was in the bottom three. What is America thinking? Were they repulsed by Matt’s song, “Let’s Get It On”? I think it’s possible. One group watches this show heavily–and it’s no secret. The Christian right loves this show.

The other person in the bottom three–and less of a shock than Giraud–was Scott MacIntyre, yet he was the first one sent back to safety out of the three. Why, I have no idea. I actually thought MacIntyre’s was the worst of the ten singers after listening back.

But the results do give you an idea of what America is thinking. I just wished they’d think more about the singer and less about the type of song they sing. Instead it’s turning out more like a popularity contest.

Michael Sarver - Aint Too Proud To Beg - Top 10 - Motown Week - American Idol 8

Once again, Michael Sarver sang a song well, but he didn’t put his own spin on it. And the judges were paying attention.

If Sarver could just make a song his own, he’d really do well in the show. But since he isn’t, I don’t know how much time he has left. Paula said it sounded “a little Las Vegas loungy” and that he needed to “dominate the song.”

Simon said he couldn’t wait for it to end and added Sarver had “no chance of winning.” Ouch. So basically, Sarver is the person the judges have thrown under the bus.

Randy said the song was too big for him and it sounded “corny.” Kara added that he needs to be an artist. Sounds like his time on the show may be coming to an end.

Anoop Dog Ready To Shine - Top 10 Preview - Motown Week - American Idol 8

s8_top10.jpg

It’s Motown Week on American Idol 8 and the singers (except for Michael Sarver and Megan Joy, who were ill) went to Detroit to meet some Motown greats and figure out what they’re going to sing.

With the pressure rising in the competition, it’s now critical for each singer to do their best. There are some, however, who can probably afford to take it safe. So here’s the group, in order from best to worst thus far on the show, which airs again Wednesday (tomorrow).

Shoo-ins:

Adam Lambert - Since nobody knows what Lambert is gonna sing, giving us that feeling we had last year before David Cook sang, it’s hard to say. But we know it will be entertaining and unique. He’s the one to beat at the moment.

Matt Giraud - It’s been amazing watching Giraud get better every week and now, if Lambert falters, it will be Giraud moving into the top seat. His mixture of soulful but memorable songs have put him into the upper class of Idol 8 singers.

Lil Rounds - Still the best singer among what females are remaining, Rounds has an easier week than last week’s debacle. Expect her to bring it this week, since it’s something she’s comfortable with.

Probably safe:

Anoop Desai - Anoop moved up big-time on everyone’s list this past week surpassing expectations and surprising all. Now he’s in a genre with which he’s comfortable, so it will be interesting to see if he makes his move on the top 3.

Danny Gokey - Another singer who was in the top three in my view, but faltered last week and is now in danger of dropping even further. Gokey desperately needs a good performance this week, or people wil start forgetting him.

Allison Iraheta - She is amazingly good for her age as a singer and performer, but she faces heavy odds in the competition. And her songs are all starting to sound the same. Don’t believe me? Watch her videos.

Kris Allen - A favorite of the ladies, Allen had another good performance last week, even though I don’t understand the appeal to this guy. Allen has some of that Jason Castro panache mixed in with a boyish charm. He’ll need to continue bringing it this week.

Danger, danger:

Michael Sarver - How he managed to stay in the competition last week is beyond me, but the good news for Sarver is he’s a pretty decent R & B singer. With his illness, though, Sarver will need to give it everything he’s got, because Megan Joy isn’t going down easily.

Scott MacIntyre - This week, pure and simple, is make-or-break for the eminently likeable Arizonan. Now that his initial hype is gone and we’ve seen him up close, it’s obvious he’s more confortable in front of the piano. The judges, however, have caught on to the fact he’s using it as a crutch. Therefore, if MacIntyre doesn’t step his game up this week, the judges will try to persuade America to vote him out.

Megan Joy - The novelty behind the uber-cute Utahn is still there, but it’s fading. This will not be an easy week for Joy, who is still recovering from Influenza B. Not a good thing to have when you’re in a cutthroat competition like Idol. If she falters at all, she could be through. However, she could have a renaissance like Anoop had, if she has a good week.

Tomorrow, we’ll predict what songs the Top 10 might sing.
