American Idle

For anyone still in denial–and I know there still are some people who think he’s not–Adam Lambert has now told the world on national TV that he is…drumroll please…gay.

Yes, G-A-Y, flying the rainbow flag, the whole deal. He was on TV for the first time last night, spilling the beans vocally on ABC’s newsmagazine 20/20.

Of course he already came out in Rolling Stone. He did mention one thing, however.

He did “avoid” telling the world while he was on American Idol, which was probably the correct move, although some didn’t find favor with it.

And he played dressup as a child, wore glitter in high school and traveled the globe in plays.

But the nice thing about Lambert was that his parents didn’t push him to tell them, but that his mother said she always knew. I wished more parents would support their kids more, particuarly with this issue.

But Lambert coming out is a big step in the right direction for a lot of kids who are struggling.

There is some good news, ladies: Adam does say he’s bi-curious. Hmm…
