Adeola Adegoke (bottom photo) walked out of her job to follow her dream of singing. LOL Unfortunately, when God gave out things he did not give such a thing to Miss Adegoke. But Simon knows a thing or two about God, since he was voted more popular than the man upstairs. So he gave her boss (not God, but like him) a phone call, after telling her to stop singing and asked him to give her her old job back, as a bank teller. He accepted and the world is now a better place to the Bronx, NY lady. “And I Am Telling You” by Jennifer Hudson was not the best song she could have picked. VIDEO
In the meantime, Jorge Nunez from Carolina, Puerto Rico was sitting in the sun, basking in the glow of his loveliness. He came off like Ricky Martin at first singing Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” (in Spanish) but after receiving lukewarm kudos from the four judges he sang “What a Wonderful World” in English. That crack decision put him through to Hollywood. VIDEO
I have to admit, I felt sorry for Jessika Baier (top photo). She obviously needed a better bra. From Jackson, Puerto Rico the waitress tried singing “I Surrender” By Celine Dion. The judges asked her to surrender and put down her instrument. VIDEO
Melinda Camile will be forgotten once she gets to Hollywood, swallowed in the never-ending pool of piranhas. The 21-year-old from Stratford, CT has a unique look with the buzz cut and model looks (BTW, what’s with all the models this year?) but “Feeling Good” and other songs like it are gonna make her look bad in Tinseltown. VIDEO
Jackie Tohn, a bonafide ringer from Silver Lake, CA, sang “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz. This girl could be legitimate and a contender to knock off the likes of Pacitti, which for anyone could be a tall task. (Not literally, though since Pacitti is short.) She put the whole competition on notice today. And I don’t even think she was trying too hard. VIDEO
Joel Contreras (middle photo), or the Guy-Pod, as he shall be known for time and all eternity left us all wanting more. Puerto Rico left me with some memories and I will never forget the Guy-Pod, the most original concept ever created by ANY contestant on the show. When he hit the Play button on his Guy-Pod I thought I was going to crap myself. Obviously he didn’t make it to Hollywood, but so what? VIDEO
OK, am I the only person on the planet who can’t believe Nick “Norman Gentle” Mitchell made it to Hollywood? The 27-year-old comedian/singer from Brookfield, CT sang “And I Am Telling You” by Jennifer Hudson. A little too out there for my taste and he doesn’t stand a chance in making it past Hell Week. VIDEO
Ashley Hollister. Forgettable. Too many like her this year. It’s like they had a sale on cute club kids this year at the Idol bake sale. And she too made it to Hollywood.
And then came prepubescents like those window frames nearly crashing down on the judges. Kenny Hoffpauer, Age 16 from Havertown, PA and a student (duh) sang “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz. Yes.
And then the recyclables came. Kendall Beard, Age 23 outta Austin, TX came all the way to New York with all the other Idol 7 Top 50-ers who were invited back for another go-round. Um, she made it. Whoa, big surprise! I love how Idol is so full of tricks this year. LOL (chokes) She sang “The Ashes” by Martina McBride, and she is definitely the resident country bumpkin this year. VIDEO (with Ashley and Kenny)
A girl named Monique Garcia Torres didn’t do too bad either. 16 and from San Juan, Puerto Rico, the student belted out a rendition of “You Can’t Hurry Love” by the Supremes that I simply haven’t heard. Impressive and on to Hollywood. VIDEO
Dun-dun-dun. Dun-nuh-nuh! She’s ba-aaack…NOOOOO!!Alexis Cohen (second from top photo), the freak from Philly last year decided to crash Idol 8 in New York City. But this time, her alter ego appeared and the student emerged like a little angel, singing out the sweetest of melodies in a dress only a mother could love. Our bundle of joy Alexis sang Like a Prayer” by Madonna. But the judges weren’t impressed. In fact, Kara said she sounded worse than last year. After that, Cohen reverted back to her old self, flipping off the judges and earning praise from Simon, who just wanted our precious Alexis to be herself.
Patricia Lewis Roman was the best singer of the night. The Caguas, Puerto Rico native sang “I Want to Dance with Somebody” by Whitney Houston like no one I’ve heard this year. Wow. She’ll be good in Hollywood. VIDEO

Well, that’s it for the auditions. Next week we’re on to Hollywood for the event they like to call “Hell Week.” That’s when the real show begins.
Also, look for extended Idol coverage tomorrow as Trish The Dish and I break down this past week in our twice-weekly column.
