American Idol 8 Spoiler Alert: Get Ready For Joanna Pacitti - American Idol 8 - Joanna Pacitti
Ever heard of Joanna Pacitti? No?? Heard of the girl who was fired at Annie at the age of 12, appeared on every talk show from here to the planet Jupiter (proof is above) in the 1990’s, talking about her impromptu canning and had two recording contracts before most of you would have finished college?Chances are you will hear lots about Joanna soon, just as much as you have heard about Carly Smithson, the Irish singer whose debut record tanked (at one point last year it sold for pennies on eBay). It turns out they have some things in common (for example Joanna‘s album sells on Amazon for three cents), although Pacitti’s story is more gut-wrenching.
She was fired from the 20th anniversary performance of “Annie” on Broadway at age 12, filed a lawsuit against the “Annie” producers and won an undisclosed sum…but only after she made the talk-show circuit for her unique story.
Then at age 16 she signed with A&M Records, and it got her some songs on movie soundtracks including “Legally Blonde.” But the difference between her and Smithson is that she didn’t just get signed to one record company. Noooo…she was also signed at Geffen Records two years ago and came out with an album called “The Crazy Life.” That’s the one that is currently selling for three pennies. Buy it quick!
Having said that it’s safe to say nobody has had the kind of rollercoaster musical career as Pacitti and so it will be interesting to see how she reacts to having all of the Idol hoopla thrust into her lap. For most it may be too much, but for someone like Pacitti, it may be all she has been looking for. She’s only 24, she’s mildly attractive (I’ll put it this way: guys will like her) and her blue eyes are basically mesmerizing.
A friend of mine says Pacitti is probably the most talented singer to ever appear on Idol and he should know…he’s tried out for the show several times and knows a lot of people in the business. We’ll soon find out if Joanna, as she likes to be called now in her later years, is worth all the hype.
she’s a professional. does that not exclude her for american Idols?
No, because her record contract has expired. If the contract has expired the person is then eligible for Idol. That’s how Carly Smithson entered the competition last year.

I would rather hear only people NEVER signed to a contract. I wasn’t comfortable with Carly being on last year. Wasn’t even comfy with
that Austrialian Idol winner being on. Let’s keep it amateur.
