Various news agencies are reporting that a woman who auditioned for American Idol 5 has been found dead in front of Paula Abdul’s home. Police found the body of Paula Goodspeed, who was in her 30’s, at approximately 6 p.m. PST last night.

If ever there is a case for people going too overboard with American Idol, that proof has been revealed today. Who is gonna help these poor people? Mental illness is nothing to laugh at, folks.

Paul Marturano, or Pauley Nipple, may have written a song about Paula Abdul entitled “Stalker,” which everyone laughed at (Marturano is an accomplished classical musician, BTW) but there is nothing to poke fun at here.

Her Myspace page (pictured above) obviously screams out she needed assistance and she says on the page how the judges said “awful things” about her when she auditioned. She also calls Paula Abdul “my secret crush, shhhhhhhh!” How sad!

Goodspeed was the contestant who sang “Proud Mary” and wore braces to the audition. Paula Abdul released this statement concerning Goodspeed’s death: “I am deeply shocked and saddened by the events that transpired yesterday. My heart and prayers go out to her family.”

Goodspeed was eliminated from the competition early on during season 5. Her parents reportedly said the deceased had a fixation with Abdul. Police have started their investigation into the death of Goodspeed and are determining if it was indeed a suicide.
