David Archuleta Apologizes For “Carried Away” Liner Notes In His Debut Album - American Idol 7 - David Archuleta
David Archuleta has been hard at work on his first album, the self-titled joint that will be out in stores tomorrow. He also was breaking his back to come up with the right words for his liner album. Well, he came up with a lot of words. Does that count?
It’s hard to believe that the kid is just 17, considering he wrote what amounted to an epic opus in his liner notes. Well, he’s since apologized and he admitted he got a little “carried away.” Um, yeah.
He basically thanked, in no particular order, his home state of Utah, the grass growing on his front lawn, the sun shining and the moon and stars. Just kidding. But he really did thank the state of Utah. That I’m serious about.
And thanked, again in no real semblance of order, but seriously, about 12 musicians, some BFF’s, Mom and Dad Archuleta, his vocal coach, Idol and FOX (duh) and “his family for the last year [haha]”. I counted at least 10 haha’s in the notes.
But wait…there’s more! And that’s only about 900 words in. He also gave looooooong shouts out to 19 Entertainment (Why? They’ll just throw him under the bus, anyway, like they have the other Idols), Jive Records, a slew of producers, his grandma, his managers, roadies and (Whew!) his fans.
My question is, who in their right mind at Jive gave a 17-year-old kid clearance to write about 2,000 words for his liner notes? If his English teacher at Murray (Utah) High School had graded this, he would have received a D. Perhaps a C, because she liked his music and felt bad for him.
After all, he’s probably missed lots of school, you know. He had a crazy stage dad running his sorry soul from here to the Moon from an early age. If ever there is a message here, it’s that it’s important to stay in school, kids. Don’t ever forget that.

Stumble It!
