Following the footsteps of past Idols Diana DeGarmo and Barbra Streisand soundalike Mikalah Gordon, Mr. Big Hair himself, Justin Guarini will throw his cowboy hat into the hay and declare himself a country music star. When I first read the release I nearly choked, but that’s okay, I’m all better now. LOLZ

Wow, a long way “From Justin To Kelly,” huh? Heh. I’ve gotta admit, out of all the Idols, this announcement surprised me the most. But when you look at the others performing for season 3 of the hit CMT show, George Clinton and Miss USA Tara Conner, among others, you know it’s gonna be memorable.

The other thing that’s been memorable are the hairdo changes Guarini’s gone through, from dreads to a short do and back to longer hair again. God only knows what he’ll be sporting during Gone Country 3. We do know it will be in some version of a cowboy hat and jeans. I believe that’s a John Rich requirement. Even in dreads.

Let’s be honest: Guarini hasn’t exactly had the level of success others predicted after he was the runner-up to Kelly Clarkson in the first season of Idol. He did that movie, “From Justin To Kelly,“ that flopped and was actually called one of the worst movies in a decade.

Lately he’s been a correspondent for FOX during several Idol 8 auditions and you’ll see him in January when season 8 returns anew. Ah, what fun we’ll have then.

So Justin Guarini is back in the news, singing country music. God help us all. What do you think about Justin’s move to Nashville?
