Big Rube just got married and so maybe his bills are already piling up. But that doesn’t mean you forego paying Uncle Sam. Unc gets kinda mad when you forget to do that.
LA Times Says:
Apparently “American Idol” winner Ruben Studdard doesn’t feel like he needs to pay his taxes. And the IRS is not happy.
He owes more than $193,000 in state and federal taxes. Much of it was due for 2003 — the year he won “Idol” and signed a $1-million contract. He was also awarded $2 million a couple of years ago after he sued his former business manager for misappropriated funds.

In honor of being who she is (and the fact that the university Underwood attended is celebrating its centennial) the town of Tahlequah, Oklahoma is shutting down one of its main streets and her old collegiate band is paying tribute. What, no key to the city? How about a master’s degree?
Tahlequah Daily Press Says:
Grand Avenue between Goingsnake and the University Center on the campus of Northeastern State University will close at 3 p.m. Friday to prepare for a special Centennial Countdown tribute to Carrie Underwood, featuring NSU Downtown Country.
Downtown Country will perform at 6 p.m. on Beta Field, followed by a presentation to Underwood by NSU President Dr. Don Betz. Underwood, a 2006 graduate, spent two summers with Downtown Country before being named 2005 American Idol.

Bad hair day? Whatever. You have nothing compared to Kellie Pickler, who says she lets the pros fix her up for big photo shoots.
OK! Magazine Says:
“Well, I have a team of highly-trained professionals that get me ready because I can’t do it on my own,” she tells OK!. “When I’m out on tour, I usually just do it myself but for TV and photo shoots I usually have people that help get me ready because it’s so stressful anyways.”

OK, who got to her and made her zip her upper lip? What type of bribe made her change her tune? It’s always about the money, isn’t it? Do you really think she likes the new judge? I don’t, but at least she’s playing nice now. That’s good for the FOX suits and good for business. And business hasn’t been good.
MTV Via People Magazine Says:
Just one day after expressing “concern” over new “American Idol” judge Kara DioGuardi, Paula Abdul said she is excited that the Grammy-nominated songwriter is joining the team. “It’s about time another girl joined,” she told People magazine. “More girl power.”

Well, the jury’s out on Kara DioGuardio, the new fourth judge for Idol 8. She’s guilty of being beautiful and sexy, according to Simon and Randy. The foursome were at another round of auditions in New York yesterday at Chelsea Piers.
Google Says:
“It’s like, you know, having dinner with three people for seven years, and getting quite bored of each other,” Cowell told reporters. “So it’s having a fourth person, new opinion, I think it’s gonna be interesting.”
“I think it’s gonna make it sexier,” said Jackson, chiming in.

If Jennifer Hudson is a bit nervous about singing the national anthem when Barack Obama accepts the nomination in Denver on Thursday, she isn’t showing it.
E! Online Says:
It was only yesterday that the big news broke that Jennifer Hudson will be singing the national anthem on the night that Barack Obama accepts the nomination for president at the Democratic National Convention. Now, the Oscar-winning songstress is opening up about the honor.
“I’m very excited. I’m ecstatic,” she tells Sean Valentine of 104.3’s “Valentine in the Morning” radio show in L.A.
She says in the interview that nerves aren’t a problem for her — yet. She responds when asked if she’s nervous, “Not so much, not right now. If someone asks me that again, I might get nervous. Like, why? Should I be?”

It’s rare, kinda like a solar eclipse, when Paula speaks out. But she must think something is messed up, else she wouldn’t have told a radio show what she did. Sounds like somebody’s jealous, and not of the producers. She’d probably wanna hang those guys.
New York Post Says:
…Apparently, they don’t remember how badly this idea tanked when they tried to fill a fourth seat during the sixth season’s audition rounds. You know who does remember though? Paula Abdul. It seems her lucidity comes and goes.
“[Producers] always tried for a fourth judge because it follows the format of the original show, but … we haven’t had much luck with that working. But we’re going to give it another try,” Paula said (in her least convincing “go-team-go” voice) this morning on the John Jay & Rich radio show.
